Core Operating Principles:
1. Great Command: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matt 22:37-40).
2. Great Commission: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them…and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…” (Matt 28:19, 20).
3. Great Compassion: “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me…whatever you did for one of the least of these (Matt 25:31-46).
While we don't want to call ourselves "contemporary" because we don't really want to label ourselves, we are not traditional. Meaning that we do not like to do things a certain way simply because it's always been done that way. We do like to find creative ways to worship. We present our music with live instruments including, guitars, drums and keyboards, we love to use drama, dance and media. We love for our congregation to be INVOLVED in worship, not just be forced to sit and watch worship. We encourage our kids to be involved. Communion is a central focus of Disciples churches and we do offer open communion every Sunday. Our youth and children are a big part of who we are and we encourage the use of their talents and interests.
